Nineteen of Medvedev's 21 championships have been achieved on hard courts

A revitalized Medvedev claimed his initial trophy for 882 days with a win over Frenchman Moutet in the competition final.

Medvedev, a former number one, has experienced a torrid period, achieving just one win at the major tournaments and undergoing a meltdown at the US Open.

His varied form on the professional circuit - and difficulties with his service game in especial - resulted in him falling of the elite rankings and eventually parting ways with long-time coach Cervara.

Presently training with Thomas Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, the tennis star has steadily progressed in the recent weeks - climaxing in a hard-fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 victory over Frenchman Corentin Moutet.

This represents his first championship after the Italian tournament and maiden on a hardcourt from that period of 2023.

Success also means the Russian has secured twenty-one championships at twenty-one various events.

"For the first time I have attended a tournament with my two daughters simultaneously, so to get a title is especially meaningful," commented ranked player Daniil Medvedev.

"This victory is in dedication of my child Victoria, because the maiden victory I won when my child her name was born was for her."

The athlete, the 2021 US Open champion, had been defeated in his last six title deciders, including in the German tournament previously this season.

Medvedev's counter-punching approach and frequent outbursts on court had led observers to wonder if his skill to play at the top level was over.

However the athlete has made changes in recent weeks, making an effort to advance forward and play positively, backed up by an enhanced serving game.

Medvedev recovered from a deficit in the opening set against the challenging Frenchman, securing 4 of the final five points to go ahead.

Both players exchanged breaks in the following set before the Frenchman, striving for his initial tour championship, seized the initiative to create a final set.

The opponent rescued four initial break points in a tight third set before Medvedev won the break to that score to secure the win.

Suitably, he earned the win with a point at the front of the court, with the Frenchman failing to control a shot after two hours and 38 minutes.
