Vinted Users Share Anger Regarding Size Changes

Shoppers are voicing their frustration due to a modification that led to listings displaying inaccurate size information.

The second-hand shopping app has revised its measurement guidelines for women's and children's garments but did not contact all shoppers about the modification.

Online Platforms Response

Many shoppers and sellers have taken to social media stating that platform listings now display an altered size classification than originally posted due to the recalibration.

Vinted explained the revised method more closely matches similar services.

It has advised users to examine their items and manually change the size when needed, resulting in member annoyance.

Size Classification Updates

Earlier, the sizes had both numerical and alphabetical indicators, like S/8 or M/10.

The revised method features an alphabetical indicator and numerical range for example S/UK 8-10.

With some products, the measurements have been reclassified - like an L measurement was previously a 12 but now shows as UK 16-18.

Shopper Stories

A fashion influencer, who makes TikTok content about plus-size fashion, stated the update "complicates both purchasing and selling".

"Not many brands say XL is a 20-22," the way the service now categorizes.

Another user, located in Scotland, said garments she listed with size 14 tags were showing in the marketplace as measurements 20-22.

"If buyers measuring 20-22 acquire them they're going to be very disappointed," she said.

Required Changes

Another shopper, from Derby, stated she felt frustrated because the modification necessitated personal updates the measurements for "each individual item".

"Personally, this is quite irritating, since I have chronic health issues and Vinted sales have been crucial following partial earnings loss," she explained.

Platform Context

The service features exceeding 100 million users, comprising 18 million UK members.

It has emerged as a preferred choice to second-hand platforms like eBay and Depop.

This isn't the first time that an unexpected update within the service has received backlash: last year, Vinted reversed a change concerning shipment methods following member complaints.
